I Hate Hate Crimes

April 18th, 2010 by seven2six received 1 Comment »

MASA (Multi-Asian Student Association) is going to have an awareness event dedicated to Asian American hate crimes. I would think it wouldn’t occur as much as before because people would be more educated about it, but I am wrong. After reading an article that my friend posted up, I was enraged. What could possibly enrage like me who rarely gets genuinely angry?

In the past 3 months, there has been three incidents of assault on the Muni in San Francisco. One involved a 28-year old getting beat up on the T-line for no reason at all. Another one involved an 80-something-year-old man getting punched for no reason also (He died two months later). The most recent one was about a 57-year-old woman being assaulted on a Muni platform. What do all these incidents have in common? They were ALL ASIAN VICTIMS.

The incident that got me boiling the most was the 57-year-old woman being assaulted on the platform. She was standing on the platform, innocently waiting for the T to come to the platform. A 15-year-0ld boy puts her in a choke hold and attempts to rob her. After finding out she has nothing on her, he keeps her in the choke hold, lifts her up, walks around the platform, and TOSSES her off the platform onto the tracks. What. the. WHAT?!

First of all, robbing the defenseless 57-year-old lady is bad enough. Did you really have to put her in a choke hold and lift her up like she is some doll? If you view the video below, you can see her legs dangling. As if that was not messed up enough, you just had to toss her ONTO the tracks?

WARNING: IF YOU CAN’T HANDLE VIOLENCE, DON’T PRESS PLAY

Kid, you are just fifteen. How did your parents raise you? When you got in trouble, did they toss your stupid self out onto the streets? Maybe someone should do that to your grandma. That’ll show you how messed up it is.

After I saw that video, I had the strong urge to go back to San Francisco. I had an urge to go to the platform and wait for those punks to come back. I had the urge to take on all five of those little high schoolers. I don’t care. I’m more than 100% I can at least take out two before I break a sweat.

Imagine the lady being either your close girl friend or your grandma. Would you let the “proper authorities” handle this? Or would you take that chance to do justice yourself? It’s funny that my student organization is going to talk about Asian American hate crimes and how we could take action. I know that violence wouldn’t solve anything. I’m not gonna lie; it’s going to make me sleep better at night knowing I taught those punks a lesson. I’d get at them so bad that they would never toss even a piece of trash on the floor.

Get at me, kids. Here’s an Asian that wouldn’t mind expressing himself.
